To do (or not to do)

To do lists can be magical. It feels great creating a list of what you need to get done, and proceeding to cross off items as you make progress. The energy can feed on itself, creating a virtuous productivity loop of sorts, driving you forward to complete more tasks in shorter amounts of time. Here’s a recipe for a simple, but effective, perpetual to-do list:

  • get a small notebook
  • for each actionable to do item, mark the date and then the item
  • keep the notebook and a pen with you at all times and add items whenever you think of them
  • strike one line through completed tasks
  • as you move forward page by page, if a certain item doesn’t get done, simply cross it off, and move it forward to the end of your list, and add an asterix at the end to mark the delay. If this happens again, repeat but with two asterixes
  • when your notebook is filled, start a new one
